How Do You Eliminate Cravings And Emotional Eating

Q: “How do you avoid temptation and food cravings? I heard tea was good.”

Christian M.

A: Thanks for the great question. Food cravings, emotional eating and temptation, the big ones. Brain Chemistry can be affected by diet while emotional eating has many sources.

Avoiding cravings is all about hormone control and hormone control can be improved through diet and food supplements. When we eat a lot of carbohydrates, they are broken down into sugars. Our body’s response is to then crank out insulin which goes seeking for the extra sugar and eliminate it.

More often than not, it works too well and we then experience low blood sugar.

When we have low blood sugar, our body then craves sugar.

Cravings are the hormonal beast in all of us.

How Do You Deal With A Mental Blockage In Weight Loss?

Q: Ok so I’m following the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle e-books. I’ve transformed my eating and eat Very well, since January 7th of this year. I joined Bally’s and know how to weight train and use the elliptical like it’s going out of style.

I only have one problem. I haven’t been to the gym in 2 weeks. I have ADD so for me this is par for the course, I start something, I do it great for about a month and a half, or however long, and then I completely drop off.

I have not done that with my eating though because I know how great eating great makes me feel.

So why am I having such a hard time motivating myself into the gym again? I Always feel great when I’m done, and I see good, slow results.

How do you deal with mental blockage in weight loss? I know this is a lifetime commitment and I want to commit to it, but I’m having a rough time. Maybe my self-esteem from being fat for so long is having a hard time letting go to what I’ve always known.

Thanks for any response you can give.

By the way, I’m 30 in 11 days, white female, endomorph, 5’3 and 200 lbs. A good deal of that is actually muscle, I found a fantastic trainer 3 years ago who showed me how to train effectively as opposed to efficiently, but again, I quit after a few months here and there.

Maybe I’m just scared to be slim. Women do get treated like objects when they’re skinny. I don’t want that.

Help!

Breaking Your Fat Loss Plateau

This is my response to a reader who sent in a question about how to break a weight loss plateau

Q: I have never been overweight until after high school. I started gaining around 20 years of age and stayed overweight til I was 25. I started working out at a women’s gym for a year, I was persistent. I lost about 30 and I have kept it off til now. I work out at a coed gym now, they took a body fat comp and my percentage body fat was 20 %. I am around 152 and my goal is 140 but i cant get beyond 150. Lately I have been trying to burn at least 1000 calories 3-5 days a week. I have hypothyroidism but luckily by working out i have increased my metabolism. I still have a lil belly I want that gone! I am 5’7 1/2 by the way. I try to eat a lot of chicken and fish for protein and I drink protein shakes every other day, mostly on the days that I lift. I lift 2-3 times a week. Now that you know my stats and stuff, could you give me some advice? I would really appreciate it! Thank you and God Bless!

Angel

A: So you’ve upped your exercise to burn an extra 1000 calories a day. Have you compensated for the 1000 calories by adding an extra 1000 calories from protein?
