Pigs In Space: The Truth About The Swine Flu

[ Note: This article was written by fitness and nutrition author Jon Benson. Jon is the author of Seven Minute Muscle Workout and many others. I have his permission to share it with you. ]

Pigs In Space:
The Truth About The Swine Flu

THE MEDIA IS LYING TO YOU!!

Shocking News: 36,000 People Dead In The U.S. Due To The Flu!

Sounds scary, doesn’t it? I mean, this whole Swine Flu makes you want to send every pig on earth into orbit.

Pigs in Space!

That’s the answer man. Shoot ‘em all up into the atmosphere. Let Ms. Piggy sort ‘em out.

That bit of shocking news? It’s true.

About 36,000 people have already died of the flu — last year.

And the year before.

And…. the year before that.

And so-on, and so-on.

Not the “Swine” flu — that’s killed one person so far in the United States (an infant.)

The “flu” flu.

You know…. the FLU? The pain-in-the-ass flu bug that you’ve known about but never feared and panicked over since you were a kid?

Yeah… that flu.

36,000 a year in the U.S. alone.

How many media outlets are talking about this historical fact? Hardly any.

Just today I saw headlines in 4-inch type: “FIRST AMERICAN SWINE FLU DEATH”.

Now, I feel for the poor little baby who died. Do not get me wrong.

But can you not see the clear, unmitigated media hype here folks?

The media depends on sensationalism and hype to sell papers and advertising. Period.

And almost ever year, something like this comes along. A few years ago it was “Bird Flu.” Remember?

How many people do YOU know that were killed by the Bird Flu.

Uh-huh. Me too. Zilch.

Let’s review:

36,000 a year die of the simple, plain-old flu.

And… we’re supposed to freak out over the potential of a new strain?

Okay — here’s what you can do to protect yourself from any strain of flu — and colds for that matter.

Ready? It’s kinda complex, so be sure to take notes…

  1. 1. Wash your hands.

  2. 2. Never touch your face (mouth, nose, eyes) before washing your hands. Antibacterial soaps probably do not help much. It is more important to take time to wash/scrub hands well. (from a post by a doctor to this reply…thank you!)

  3. 3. Eat a diet that is low in insulin response.

  4. 4. Drink plenty of water.

That’s all.

I know, very, very complex stuff… but… what can I say.

The only thing you may NOT being doing (most people are not) is eating a low-insulin diet. That’s a diet that does not promote insulin resistance in the cells.

The ideal diet for that is my Every Other Day Diet. Why?

Well, because I wrote it… that’s why. ; )

Actually, because it allows you the foods you love every week, so you don’t feel like you’re on a diet all the time.

If you doubt the claims, just read about the results on my support blog.

Or get yourself a copy. Try it. If you don’t like it, I’ll pay you back.

Simple as that.

Does Weight Watchers Consider Inches Lost or Just Pounds?

It’s come to my attention that Weight Watchers does not track inches lost over the week, but rather focuses squarely on the scale, giving no credit to a gain in muscle. Does weight watchers understand or even promote an active lifestyle? and if they do, they simply MUST understand that a body building muscle is going to drop inches as it burns more fat, which wouldn’t register on the scale.

Imagine the psychological impact of a man or woman who’s been increasing their exercise frequency and intensity, watching what they eat, counting the points and proud of what they’re accomplishing as they get stronger, only to be totally discouraged at a weight gain a week later.

I Question The Weight Watchers Approach

Does Weight Watchers take into account an increase in muscle mass and a decrease in inches as a successful week? or is it just the reading on the scale that counts?

weight watchers inches or pounds

Muscle weighs the same as fat, let me be perfectly clear about that.

1 pounds of muscle is equal to 1 pound of fat, just as 1 pound of hammers is equal to 1 pound of feathers.

A pound is a pound.

However, a pound of muscle is more dense than fat and takes up less space.

As one exercises, he or she begins to stimulate the body to compensate for the work load and it does so by building more muscle. That muscle in turn is metabolically active, and begins to burn more fat, even while sleeping. As the body burns the fat, it becomes smaller in size because a pound of fat takes up more space than a pound of muscle. The body burns the fat as long as the body remains in a calorie deficit each day.

We shrink, yet it’s possible to weight the same, trading 1 pound of fat for 1 pound of muscle.

Top Ten Reasons to Eat Breakfast

The reasons for eating breakfast far outweigh the time saved walking out the door on an empty stomach. My recent 5 pound weight loss after adding this simple habit got me curious about the benefits of eating breakfast.

Breakfast is simply ‘breaking the fast’. We have not eaten since evening and expect our body to be fueled and blood sugar to be replenished for the day without food is unrealistic. Think of your stomach like the gas tank of your car. You put gas in the tank of you car so that it runs, why wouldn’t you do this for your body? Think of it as a ‘jump start’.

In Canada alone, forty per cent of Canadians do not eat breakfast and an alarming one half of them are women. The inconvenience and minutes it takes to make breakfast is outweighing its benefits!

Top Ten Reasons to Eat Breakfast

eat breakfast
1 A better attention span, focus and better productivity at work, school or at home. More strength and endurance. Studies on those who work at labor type jobs have shown that those who do not eat breakfast are unable to work as hard until lunchtime and studies on children reveal that they are unable to complete school work.

2Maintaining a healthy weight. People who skip breakfast are shown to choose less nutritious and convenience foods to curb their ravenous appetite. Poor eating habits lead to eating throughout the evening and calories are stored the evening hours as the metabolism slows down. Calories stored equals fat.

Understanding Diabetes Hypoglycemia and Syndrome X

In this 4 part series, I will take an in depth look at Diabetes, Hyperglycemia and Syndrome X, explaining them in detail and concluding with showing how to rebuild pancreatic function – removing diabetes and the different supplements that can benefit these different types of blood sugar problems.

Diabetes or Hyperglycemia is the accumulation of too much glucose in the blood stream, because of a pancreatic insufficiency, that usually involves insufficient production of pancreatic enzyme, and some times insufficient insulin, while Syndrome X was coined by Dr Gerald Raven, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. In 1988 he noted there were many individuals presenting the phenomenon of insulin resistance, yet they could not be classified type 2 diabetes. These patients were at greater risk of cardiovascular disease than the general population, so this is what he called “Syndrome X”. I’ll go more into Syndrome X in part 2 of this series.

And so we begin…

Diabetes, Hypoglycemia and Syndrome X.

Part 1 of 4 part series

Is it possible to rebuild Pancreatic Function – removing Diabetes?

diabetes hyperglycemia syndrome x“…First, to explain a bit about myself I am a 52 year old male who has been an insulin dependent diabetic for the last 25 years and under the care of the same doctor who first diagnosed and treated me. Over the course of his treatment and care I have had many ups & downs with complications from my diabetes. My doctor was always telling me to improve my care – I like this doctor because he pulls no punches and tells it like it is, and many times he has told me so, get better or else! However, during my last doctor’s visit, this is the first time that he has been happy & pleased with all my medical results. My AIC, cholesterol, blood pressure, liver panels, etc were all normal. He knows I use a lot of natural supplements, visit complementary healthcare practitioners and do not like to take “pills”. I briefly explained to him the protocol I was using. He didn’t question me as to why I was doing this, he saw the results first hand.

The reason I now can justly write this referral is because until my recent stay in the Pasqua Hospital in Regina with a rather severe and painful right ear infection, I never understood what a “HEALTHIER” body, mine, could withstand, yes, withstand.

I am a man who prefers to do my health care and maintenance the most natural way possible. There is a place for main stream medicine when needed.

During my 3 day stay in the hospital, I was given mega dosages of Demerol, and other pain killers, anti-inflammatory & antibiotics. I had an infected cyst lanced in my right ear & my ear canal was closed shut – lots of fun!

Because of the protocol of supplements Kristine had put me on for a “dysaerobic” body, I was able to withstand & come thru all that my body experienced while in the hospital.

I honestly believe that without this protocol I would have become and stayed sick a lot worse than I was – without question!

I am not going into explanations on because the end result speaks for itself. With Kristine’s assistance, I will dispose of all the residue toxins in my body left from my hospital experience. They were very much needed at the time, but now its time to move on to the “HEALTHIER” body I had before.

To anyone who is considering Kristine to assist them becoming healthier, what are you waiting for? Let her work with you to achieve your goal.

Kristine, in closing I will keep it very simple.

My doctor of 30 years was beside himself with excitement when he discovered both my 30 years of heart disease, and diabetes, had already largely disappeared simultaneously after seeing you just 3 times!

Thank You.

-Martin, Age 52, Saskatchewan”

Diabetes is the fifth leading cause of death in the US, and its incidence is increasing at an alarming rate.

What Is Diabetes?

Diabetes or Hyperglycemia is the accumulation of too much glucose in the blood stream, because of a pancreatic insufficiency, that usually involves insufficient production of pancreatic enzyme, and some times insufficient insulin.

This high glucose and disruption of normal glucose metabolism places a great stress on the entire organism and can lead to a number of serious and potentially fatal complications.

Some of the conditions that come with diabetes are neuropathy, or simply put nerve damage, retinopathy often leading to blindness, atherosclerosis, (hardening of the arteries) loss of peripheral circulation, especially in the feet and legs which later could lead to gangrenes, and kidney failure.

Diabetes type 2 or non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus or adult onset diabetes is a classic “disease of civilization”, almost unknown to people eating traditional diets and living in their traditional non sedentary way.

What Causes Diabetes?

One major culprit is soft drinks, which in their non diet form can contain as much as 10 teaspoons of sugar per can and in diet form, they contain NutraSweet or Aspartame which also elicits an insulin response too.
